Today we’re continuing the series on the cities in the Metro east area of Illinois. As we drive from our home in New Athens we go through Freeburg and the next city in Belleville. As I looked for the places in Belleville I was surprised that Eckert’s and Southwestern Illinois College were in Belleville.

I pulled up the map of Belleville and found it was one of the most irregularly shaped city boundaries I have ever seen. It has pockets and arms that reach out in all directions. So read on and enjoy.
