In this heartfelt narrative, I invite you on a culinary adventure as we stumble upon a hidden gem, Lee’s Chicken, a fast-food joint unlike any other. With a casual and relaxed tone, let’s embark on a journey that began with curiosity and led to a delightful discovery.

Let’s go and get something

Karen and I had seen the store in one of our travels in the Belleville area. It was one of those days where it was easier to say let’s get something instead of making a meal. As we made our way to Lee’s Chicken, I couldn’t help but notice the storefront’s typical fast-food appearance. However, what set this place apart was it was not in the Chicago area, making it an exciting first for both of us.

Upon arrival, our attention was immediately drawn to the main window, where an enticing special of 10 pieces of chicken beckoned to us. To our surprise, the price for 10 pieces was even lower than the regular 8-piece option, making the savings too tempting to resist.

Could it live up to the hype?

As a connoisseur of Popeye’s Chicken, I was curious to see if Lee’s could live up to the hype. The moment we indulged in our first bite, our taste buds were delighted with the subtle yet distinct flavor of the chicken. It was evident that Lee’s had crafted a unique taste that set it apart from its competitors.

With each passing moment, we noticed a mild spiciness that added an extra kick to the already flavorful chicken. The breading, reminiscent of Popeye’s, added a satisfying crunch that further enhanced the experience.

As we savored every bite, it became evident that Lee’s Chicken was not just a fast-food joint; it was a destination for flavor enthusiasts seeking something truly special. With every piece of chicken we devoured, our certainty grew – Lee’s was indeed a better value compared to other options.

Lee’s history

Learning more about Lee’s, we discovered that it was a chain of dine-in or carry-out stores that had been satisfying taste buds for over 50 years. Originating in Lima, Ohio, in 1966, Lee’s had mastered the art of crafting mouthwatering chicken that kept customers coming back for more.

Enthralled by our newfound love for Lee’s, Karen and I highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone seeking a delightful dining experience. Its unique and memorable flavor makes it a must-visit destination for chicken lovers.

In conclusion

In conclusion, our journey to Lee’s Chicken was an unexpected delight – a treasure trove of flavor waiting to be discovered. With its inviting taste, incredible value, and long-standing legacy, Lee’s has certainly earned its place in our hearts and culinary recommendations.

We hope you are enjoying these articles and are willing to continue to follow along as we move through the process of selling our house, buying a new house (to become our home), and the adventures of learning about life in southern Illinois, Bruce & Karen.

We’re Bruce and Karen Carlson. We recently moved to the Metro East area of Illinois. This area is east of St. Louis from the Mississippi River north to Alton, east to Carlyle, back south to Waterloo and the Mississippi River, finally north to Columbia. The center is Fairview Heights, Swansea, Belleville, Shiloh, and O'Fallon. Not to be forgotten is Southern Illinois University (SIU) in Edwardsville. It’s a whole new world out there. Our goal with this website is to share our exploration of the Metro East area. As we find businesses and services we use in our daily lives, we’ll share how these businesses and services have helped make our lives better and easier to live.

We’re calling our move to the Metro East area retirement, but we’re not quite sure what that means. By sharing our story with you, we hope you too will gain a better sense of what the Metro East area has to offer and how their businesses and services can improve your lives and build a better community.
